FREE TOOLS

Four tools to understand your crypto tax position before you file.

Saim built these tools to give crypto holders a starting point — not a final answer. Use them to estimate, understand, and ask better questions. When the numbers matter, schedule an intake.

01

Crypto Tax Estimator

Enter realized gains from your exchange reports. Get an estimated federal liability broken down by short-term and long-term rates. Useful for quarterly estimated payment planning.

What it covers: Short-term gains (ordinary rates, up to 37%), long-term gains (0% / 15% / 20% + 3.8% NIIT), and an estimated blended rate based on your filing status and income inputs.

1099-DA Decoder

Form 1099-DA has 15+ boxes. Most are unfamiliar to taxpayers — and many CPAs. This decoder explains what each box means, what it is used for on Form 8949, and when you need to make an adjustment.

What it covers: Boxes 1a through 13, including the proceeds box, basis box, gain/loss box, adjustment codes (B, O, etc.), covered vs. uncovered classification, and the broker’s CUSIP/token identifier field.

Holding-Period Calculator

Short-term or long-term? Enter the acquisition date and disposition date for any lot. Get the exact holding period in days and the resulting character: short-term (<365 days) or long-term (≥365 days).

Why it matters: A one-day difference in holding period can shift gains from the 15% or 20% long-term rate to rates as high as 37% + self-employment tax for traders. We use this calculation on every lot in every engagement.
